Who are you?
I am a recent graduate of the University of North Texas where I studied Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations and minored in Anthropology.
My specialties within PR are strategic planning and social media marketing. I am a very strategic and analytical thinker which helps me to identify problems and come up with reasonable and timely solutions.
I have a diverse background ranging from an education in theatre and film to studying journalism and PR. I am a well-rounded writer with experience writing short stories, poems, screenplays, stage plays and narratives, as well as news writing, blogs, press releases and social media copy.
What do you do?
I read, I write, I watch movies, I do it all. I love storytelling. I'm unsure of what I want to do right now, but I know that storytelling has to be apart of it. I'm creative but strategic, which are two difficult traits to balance.
I pride myself on being highly media literate, meaning that I am able to consume and decode media messages to assess their influence on the consumers thoughts, actions and beliefs. Unfortunately, this means that I'm a pain to watch movies with.
What are you up to now?
When I'm not at my top secret 9-to-5, I am the writer, editor and publisher of whenever-I-feel-like-posting blog, Vanessa’s Vignettes.
What started as a place for me to share my thoughts and findings on internet discourse, new media trends and media critiques quickly turned to a platform where you can find dwellings on my personal life and explorations on my own thoughts and life happenings.
Inspiration taken from my own audacity to try something new, Issa Rae’s Insecure and freelance pop-culture writer, Hunter Harris.
Blog hosted on Substack, where I have amassed 11 subscribers since 2021 through my own feeble efforts.
No real end goal to this project. Just something I started for fun. No monetary or egotistical value (as of yet.)
